Incredible Alaska Travel Photography
When talking about outdoor photography, Alaska stands out as truly unique. Over the years I have visited our 49th state about forty times, mostly for fishing. Do I have a favorite area within our largest and most northern state . . . not Really. Most of my trips have been in the southeastern areas such
as Kodiak and Sitka but I have been as far north as Kotzebue located 33 miles north of the arctic circle where winter temperatures frequently drop to -45 deg. F.
An incredibly beautiful and majestic state with mountains reaching heights above 20,300 feet first time visitors often feel humbled in comparison. There are over 100 volcanoes in the area with more than 40 currently active.
With so much natural beauty it's difficult to recommend where to begin your journey. One of the most scenic stretches of highway in America is just south of Anchorage where the Seward Highway follows the Turnagain Arm shoreline along Cook Inlet. From here you can drive on to Seward, or the Kenai Peninsula to Kenai and Homer, claiming to be the "Halibut Capitol of the World".
