Florida Rental Cars Provide Vacation Freedom and Flexibility

Florida rental cars fill the bill since you will definitely need wheels during your next Florida vacation. Florida is such a large and diverse travel destination from the sandy beach expanses of the Panhandle coast to the exotic, wetlands of the unique and beautiful Everglades. Public transportation just won't do. Because of its unique landscape, travel by car is the only solution for enjoying all the wonder the Sunshine State has to offer. However, selecting a rental car on your next vacation can be a bit complicated when examining the best deals and trying to get a handle on related needs such as insurance coverage. Here are a few tips to consider when seeking a great deal on rental cars.

Choose a Vehicle Wisely

Your vacation transportation should never substitute expense for comfort. Travelers should choose a vehicle that provides ease of driving while possessing ample luggage storage space. Of course larger families need to consider the safety and comfort of their children and how much will be necessary to have onboard to make the driving part of the vacation not only enjoyable for kids, but physically and mentally acceptable to the parents. A minivan or Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is recommended for these families. A smaller car might not provide the comfort and convenience you need. Vacationers might also discover specific family-attractive discounts when searching Florida rental cars.

Book in Advance

Be sure to book your car as far in advance as possible to allow enough opportunity for research and examination. You may discover that short-term rentals will price better at the major rental agencies such as National, Hertz, Enterprise, Avis, Alamo or Thrifty. If you plan to rent for longer periods of time - perhaps a couple of weeks or a month - check out alternative local car rental agencies or even car dealerships. Keep in mind that when dealing with local companies you may not find the same depth of services provided by the national agencies. Many local companies do not provide roadside service in the event of an emergency, leaving you on your own to deal with the situation. But, the savings realized dealing with a local company may allow you to obtain a "rider" covering vehicle breakdown and repair/replacement that still keeps the cost far below what the bigger agencies offer.

Check Your Personal Affiliations

For a great deal on Florida rental cars, check your own personal affiliations such as your credit union membership, fraternal organization, credit card program or national membership with national organizations like AAA (American Automobile Association) or AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). Group memberships often include car rental discounts when booked according to outlined regulations and procedures. Be thorough, do your online search checking with any organization in which you are a current member for discount or promotional codes necessary when booking your reservation. These special promotion codes or "coupons" can easily result in savings of 20 percent or more when seeking a great deal on Florida rental cars.
