Outdoor Photography Florida
Except for a few urban locales and built up tourist destinations, outdoor photography Florida style is the watchword of anyone wanting to appreciate the natural world in the Sunshine State. Florida is rich with scenic views that include coastlines, lakes, swamps, rivers and a seemingly unending sky. Although much of Florida is flat (highest elevation is only 345 feet at Britton Hill in the Panhandle), that flatness works for capturing panoramic scenes. Don’t forget your tri-pod. Florida’s flatness allows for easy access to its many outdoor locations, providing visitors a close-up view of the natural world with little effort. And, with the exception of occasional winter cold spells (which offer its own special photographic opportunities), Florida's warmth means nature and outdoor photography Florida style is alive year-round. Incredible forests with trees, flowers and wildlife, and expansive beaches with people and much more easily become your photographic subjects. Looking UpFlorida's blue skies, often filled with puffy cumulus clouds, especially in the "rainy summer months" in palm-tree laden south Florida, provide for picture perfect vacation scenes. It gets even better when you use a polarizing filter when capturing images along the Gulf Coast's white sandy beaches. As the day wears on, thunderstorms often punctuate the scene, providing for an incredible array of white, gray and sometimes, almost black, clouds in juxtaposition. Don't forget lightning photography from a safe distance or indoors. What is especially nice is that you can easily access scenic beach areas, especially in smaller towns, and from coastal parks. Florida’s Birding CoastlineShore birds are typically in evidence at all Florida beaches year-round. Sometimes whole squadrons of pelicans may be perched atop old piers posts at other times, they may be flying in an up and down wave pattern formation, occasionally skimming the water’s surface.
Wading birds of all types often race along the shore, in and out of the water. Some will be grabbing fish; others might be pecking at the sand looking for hermit crabs. Then those who aren’t camera shy might just amble by ever so slowly allowing for you to take their picture; others run quickly away, begging for videographic capture. Collectives of birds, represeting many different species sometimes gather for a beach convention. You can often get fairly close to these groups before they start to shuttle away. With the proper equipment (including telephoto lenses), it's easy to document their activities for your outdoor photography Florida scrapbook. Even More Photographic Beach Opportunities But there's much more to see and photograph at that beach. Wave actions often create unique patterns as they rush ashore, break and wash back into sea. At different tide levels, the beach will be more or less exposed. At lower tides, debris lines can litter the beach, telling where higher tidal waters have reached.
Shells of all sizes, shapes and colors are exposed and left behind with the receding tides. Depending upon season, recent wave action, location within the state, and other factors, you will discover that shell types will be quite different, less broken and more variably colored. Wave action may even create shell graveyards where tens of thousands of shells are literally heaped atop one another such as found in the Fort Myers area, createing a unique perspective of outdoor photography Florida style. Coastal dunes, piers, boats on the water, other oceanic sealife (e.g., dolphins, turtles, geckoes and hermit crabs) and even the people resting or playing add to the theme of outdoor photography Florida style. Heading HomeBut I'm not quite finished. On the drive home from the beach (or any other place I happen to be visiting), there are the smaller towns, offering their own scenic perspectives - colorful or unique buildings, structures in decay, beautiful landscaping, and a lot more. Outdoor photography Florida style seems to offer an unlimited abundance of nature settings (possibly gators basking along a canal, an ambling turtle, or a scurrying Armadillo) just waiting for you to capture by camera.
